Buckeyes survive scare from Ohio, 26-14 (AP)
After barely beating Ohio University, No. 3 Ohio State was not a happy football team. In fact, the sluggish win felt more like a loss. 'That was pathetic. It was a pathetic performance,' Buckeyes wide receiver Brian Hartline said after the Buckeyes rallied in the fourth quarter for 26-14 win over plucky Ohio, a 33 1/2 -point underdog.

Jim Thome passed Mickey Mantle at the perfect time. Thome homered in the 15th inning to move ahead of Mantle on the career list and give the Chicago White Sox a 7-6 victory over the Los Angeles Angels that extended their AL Central lead Saturday night. Thome's 537th home run came off Justin Speier (1-8) and put him in sole possession of 14th place.


Gators end 6-game skid to Miami, 26-3 (AP)
Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow may never play Miami again, and that's just fine with him. He got his victory against the Hurricanes and earned a spot in the annals of this storied and once-bitter instate rivalry. Tebow was good early and even better late, throwing two touchdown passes and helping the fifth-ranked Gators snap a six-game losing streak against Miami with a 26-3 victory Saturday night...
